At Karma East, our commitment to sustainability and community extends beyond the garments we create. Recently, our dedicated team in India, led by our factory manager Girish, took a meaningful step towards giving back to the environment and the local community by planting over 200 trees at three schools in Pushkar: Ranchhod Das School, Mahatma Gandhi School Ganahera, and Government School Nala.

The initiative involved close collaboration with the students and faculty of the Ranchhod Das School, Mahatma Gandhi School Ganahera, and Government School Nala.  Our company in India purchased and planted the trees and will work with the schools to nurture and maintain them. This partnership ensures that the trees will thrive, providing shade, clean air, and a connection to nature for the students.Given that Pushkar is located in the arid region of Rajasthan, where the desert climate is characterised by extreme temperatures and scarce vegetation, the benefits of this initiative are especially significant. Trees play a critical role in such ecosystems, providing much-needed shade, reducing ambient temperatures, and preventing soil erosion. By enhancing green cover in these schools, we are helping to create cooler, more hospitable environments for the students and teachers, while also contributing to the local ecosystem.

Our team, who typically spend their days crafting our beautiful garments took time out of their work day to contribute to this initiative. Under the leadership of Girish, who has already transformed our factory surroundings by planting trees and vines in every available space, this project aims to extend these green efforts into the broader community.

This project is more than just an environmental effort; it’s a testament to our vison of mindfulness and sustainability. The trees we plant today will stand as a symbol of our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us. As these trees grow, they will not only contribute to the environment but will also serve as a living reminder of the power of community and collaboration. The students, alongside our team, will watch these trees grow, much like how we at Karma East continue to nurture our commitment to sustainability.
